TEA WORKSHOPS

One World Wellness invites you to delight in the practice of tea ritual. Whether for stress management, intellectual interest or just a friendly gathering, a tea workshop is the perfect complement to any occasion. Tea workshops usually last 1.5 hours but can be adjusted for any time frame by shortening or lengthening meditation sessions. Fine quality teas are provided from our tearoom but special orders are also welcome.

To request a tea workshop, contact us with information about group size and your choice of workshops below.

Christine Ucich leads us in an exploration of mindfulness & meditation practice
using tea to focus the mind. Drawing our attention away from busy chattering,
we may find a serene spot where there is only presence & peace.

Mindful Tea Meditation
A unique workshop exploring mindfulness techniques to bring meditation into your every day life. A modern day inspired version of the Tea Ceremonies of Japan, Tea Meditation is mindfully preparing and drinking tea while engaging the five senses - the sound of the bubbling water in the kettle, the smell of freshly brewed tea, the sight of the colorful liquid, the touch of the cup and the fine taste of the tea. Drinking tea in this way helps to focus the mind. And at the same time, tea helps to bring relief from stressful feelings to soothe one's spirit. Whether in response to thoughts, feelings, emotions, or bodily sensations, when we become present to our experience in an open and nonjudgmental way, we are practicing mindfulness.  $55

The Way of Tea
Learn the early history of tea drinking from the Wandering Taoists to Tea in North America to the fundamentals of the Japanese Tea Ceremony. Take a journey to teas around the world to discover the growing and processing methods used for each. During the workshop, enjoy three select teas as a perfect way to soothe the spirit and body, and understand how it can become a meditation that one practices consistently in everyday life. Handouts provided with practical tips and inspirational poems for tea drinking.  $75

Seven Cups of Tea
An accompaniment to any event where teas can be paired with food & drink or served alone, this tasting features seven fine teas each with a unique flavor profile. Based on the poem, 7 Cups of Tea by Lu Tong, the seven teas are served as special beverages to be savored for their aroma and taste, but also, for the teas' transformative effects on one's body, mind & spirit. Selections include green and white teas, oolongs and puer teas, rooibos and herbal teas or a combination of all three types. Tea is a delicate balancing act involving water, fire and leaves. When the balance is perfect, the resulting harmony can travel with you long after you’ve finished the last sip.  $115

Seven Cups of Tea
Poem by Lu Tong, 9th century

The first cup moistens the throat;

The second shatters all feelings of solitude;

The third cleans the digestion,
and brings to mind the wisdom of 5,000 volumes;

The fourth induces perspiration,
evaporating all of life’s trials and tribulations;

With the fifth cup, body sharpens, crisp;

And the sixth cup is the first on the road to enlightenment;

The seventh cup sits steaming – it needn’t be drunk,
as from head to feet one rises to the abode of the immortals.
