SUNDO PRACTICE

Taoist breathing and meditation practices offer a direct path to greater well-being — a journey that leads to more vivid, relaxed, and meaningful experiences in our lives. To follow this path, it’s essential to find a program taught in a structured format which gradually takes students from a basic practice to more advanced levels.

In the SunDo Program at One World Wellness, we practice an authentic tradition passed on faithfully from master to teacher, honor a close connection to highly qualified instructors with first-hand knowledge of their practice, value the warmth and openness of a community offering guidance and support, and embrace opportunities for practicing at a center that encourages regular class attendance leading to meaningful progress over time in developing the body, mind and spirit.

SunDo is a personal development discipline you can really use...

The Taoist yoga and breath meditation practice of SunDo treats spiritual and personal growth as a holistic practice designed to transform your life from all angles. The earliest SunDo practitioners understood that complete wellness or health does not come from a strict focus on the mind or body alone, but a yoking together of the mind, body, and spirit.

Meditation Workshop

SunDo practice has three parts:

• Postures for enhancing the health of the body
• Meditation for calming and focusing the mind
• Breathwork for better physical, mental, and emotional health

Within the SunDo Program, the breath is used as a way to acquire Qi, or vital life energy. It becomes slower, deeper and more refined with each subsequent practice level, and the self-knowledge we acquire from each session then filters into all aspects of wellbeing.
Many of us know the numerous benefits that come from living a healthy and active lifestyle — we go to the gym regularly, spend time outdoors, and watch what we’re eating, but most of us in the West continue to overlook the importance of “breathing well.” Honing conscious, controlled breathing develops an inner wisdom that teaches us how to more intimately know our bodies and mental states.

SunDo is for people interested in a new kind of health beyond just the physical— those who want to practice focused meditation and breathing that transforms the body but also strengthens the energy of the mind and heart center.

Authenticity — What makes our classes or workshops special...

At the SunDo Introductory Series or Workshop, you will meet expert SunDo instructors who have all trained for many years in the SunDo-Taoist system, attaining very high-levels of breath refinement and Qi (energy) cultivation. These instructors are the most extensively trained breathing guides in the meditation and yoga world, not only because of the thoroughness of the SunDo Instructor Training Program, but also because they themselves have consistently practiced this breathwork for many years throughout all of SunDo’s practice levels.

To attain an instructor certification in SunDo, one must have a required minimum of four years of personal practice while also completing a two-year instructor training program with revered masters of the art. SunDo instructors also teach breathwork as a holistic practice that enhances all aspects of practitioners lives and health, rather than merely a therapeutic tool, as many other breath practices are taught. While other disciplines are excellent for healing, breathing therapies do not address the need for overarching wholeness that a traditional practice can provide.
