Mindful Tea Meditation
A unique workshop exploring mindfulness techniques to bring meditation into your every day life. A modern day inspired version of the Tea Ceremonies of Japan, Tea Meditation is mindfully preparing and drinking tea while engaging the five senses - the sound of the bubbling water in the kettle, the smell of freshly brewed tea, the sight of the colorful liquid, the touch of the cup and the fine taste of the tea. Drinking tea in this way helps to focus the mind. And at the same time, tea helps to bring relief from stressful feelings to soothe one's spirit. Whether in response to thoughts, feelings, emotions, or bodily sensations, when we become present to our experience in an open and nonjudgmental way, we are practicing mindfulness. $55 |
Seven Cups of Tea
Poem by Lu Tong, 9th century The first cup moistens the throat; The second shatters all feelings of solitude; The third cleans the digestion, and brings to mind the wisdom of 5,000 volumes; The fourth induces perspiration, evaporating all of life’s trials and tribulations; With the fifth cup, body sharpens, crisp; And the sixth cup is the first on the road to enlightenment; The seventh cup sits steaming – it needn’t be drunk, as from head to feet one rises to the abode of the immortals. |
