Qigong and T’ai-Chi
Embracing the Valley SpiritWednesdays | 4:30-5:30 PM
“If you want to become very hard, first learn to become very soft. If you want to become very fast, first learn to become very slow." These sayings from ancient Taoism convey the idea of Valley Spirit. Through the practice of T’ai Chi (Supreme Ultimate) and Qi Gong (energy exercise), practitioners learn to foster a balance of yin and yang forces to create a harmony of mind, body, and spirit. Emphasizing movements that are first soft and yielding (yin) and then hard and extending (yang), we learn to lead with the gentler, softer side of of our being. Classes held on Wednesday, February 2, 9, 23 and March 2. Classes feature slow flowing and connected movement to integrate the mind and body and generate flexibility, strength, and well-being. Participants receive individualized instruction offered within a group setting. Classes consist of seated and standing exercises (Qigong), taiji walking, and traditional taiji forms. Appropriate for all fitness levels. |
